I’ve been OBSESSED with the American Revolution for more than twenty years. Now I write about it.

Before fiction, I spent my career in the law. First in my class, then top-tier law firms, in-house counsel for the Departments of Homeland Security and Justice, Assistant U.S. Attorney, and lead counsel for a multi-agency intelligence center. I learned how power works, and what it costs a man to pick a side. That became my first novel, Rising Sons, set in Boston in 1765.

I’d already finished the book when I walked 230 miles of the Continental Army’s 1776 march, Boston to New York, on foot. I wanted 1765 in my body, not just on the page.

I’m finishing a master’s in history at Harvard Extension School in 2027, and I live in El Paso with my wife, Daisy, our two daughters, and a bulldog named George.
